A B O U T
Tshego Mako is an Interior and architectural designer currently located in South Africa, her home town. She received a Master of Science degree in Architecture- Built Environment- Interiors at Politecnico di Milano, Italy in 2022. Previously she obtained her Bachelors in Architectural studies from the University of Cape Town, South Africa (2017). At the core of her design approach is expressive, creative, social design.
Her obsessive interest in Interior architecture and detailed design work, exploring spatial conditions for art and object equally matches her enthusiasm for social architecture.
Tshego has actively initiated her design studio, Makography Studio and Ceramics subsidiary, Makorder, whilst being a contributor for Matri-Archi(tecture), an association located between Switzerland and South Africa that hosts a network of spatial practitioners dedicated to the development of African spatial education, offering a site for artistic collaboration through design, art and architectural research projects. In 2021 the team of 4 was invited to participate and design a pavilion for the Chicago Architecture Biennial. In 2023, another team of 4 designed an exhibition which exhibited in Johannesburg, South Africa and London after being approached and commissioned by SOAS, University of London.
In 2017 Tshego took up an internship in New Delhi, India with mHS CITY LAB, an organization that seeks to improve the resilience of informal housing in developing countries followed by a position as a interior and furniture designer at a Cape Town start-up.
Beyond Architecture and Interiors Tshego retains her interests in the creative sphere, mastering her craft at photography, Creative direction and branding.
