BNP ART FOUNDATION
Artist Residency
The new BPN Art Residency of Recco is an engaging and inviting arts center on the Costiera Ligure, situated just outside Recco’s city center. Celebrating its prominent location on the waterfront, the building’s architectural design formally and philosophically extends out into the community, welcoming visitors of all
ages and backgrounds to experience contemporary art firsthand.
After a big refurbishment intervention to preserve the heritage value and make the best use of the Villa Tigellius, the building presents a timeless appearance and an extraordinary durability in the northern climate. The mixture of “traditional” exterior and “modern” interior furniture and finishes, animates the building, exposing the activities within and engaging people and art at multiple levels on both the interior and exterior. These materials create a dynamic quality that allow the building to transform along with its natural surroundings. The renovation project has upgraded the previously below-standard ambient and art handling facilities and includes new celebratory public event areas including the terrace, a big lounge and dining area, a multi-purpose amphitheater, and outdoor sculpture garden.
La Foresteria [Administration building]
A space rich in colour and textures. This space intends to leave a positive initial impression of Villa Tigellius. As it is the first point of contact, several commissioned works will be displayed on the interior of the building.
Il Castello [Studio spaces]
Il Castello is exemplified as a space of exploration and creativity. The building serves as a blank canvas for artists to envision future works while on residency and BNP ART FOUNDATION. This is a communal space which encourages knowledge exchange sessions.
La Ca’d’Oro [Accommodation]
A bright and exciting aesthetic intends on being the identifying factor of La Ca’d’oro. This building will serve to house residents from across the globe. Similar to La Foresteria, this building represents the creative spirit of the artists.
